Mr. Cloud’s words tell stories of the American West and the people who live there. His songs paint pictures of majestic mountains and azure skies of meandering trails and cool, quiet nights. Nights that would swallow you like a deep lake and hold you softly as a sleeping child.

ABOUT Rich
Looking through the smoky veil of time, back to the turbulent sixties, a teenage boy awakened to find a fabulous gift. A gift that would change his life forever. It was his first guitar.
Rich Cloud had already been kicking around with piano, strings, and woodwinds. But here was an instrument he could sing with AND carry out into the world. An instrument that begged, no demanded, to go forth into the world and be heard.
And so it began. Off he went to the world of folk music where he started developing his songwriting skills. From there it was easy to find blues and bluegrass, eventually leading to rock and country.
By the nineties Rich had discovered electricity. He found himself playing country dance music all over Montana and Wyoming. Pretty soon it was Texas to California and points between. He was living the self styled life of a vagabond troubadour. Finally he tired of the travel and decided to play more locally.
Rich returned to his acoustic roots and his 1955 Guild and called on his fifty years of songwriting experience for material. Now he offers to the world the words and music he has always loved. Finely crafted originals and select covers.

This CD could be a contender for Americana album of the year.
Fool is an embarrassment of riches. Rich Cloud and his backing band, Ed Cook on guitar, “Uncle Ray” Fetzer keys, and drummer Steve Vaughn play with understated authority. The funky, bare bones production lends the music an authentic, back porch air but Cloud’s songwriting steals the show.
There are ten tunes on the album and not one clunker; most of them have the ring of bar band classics. All You Got Tonight kicks things off in high gear. It’s the roadhouse rocker every bar band plays to an indifferent audience, “order a drink, cause maybe we stink, we’re All You Got Tonight.” But the humor and musicianship let you know this is a band that kicks serious butt. The Piggy Song is an ode to Porky Pig, a snide bit of basic R&B worthy of Lieber and Stoller. You can imagine The Coasters releasing it as a big hit.Destiny has plenty of old time cowboy twang and a classic pop feel. If Fred Astaire ever made a Western movie, this would be the song he would sing to his best cowgirl. Cloud takes credible shots at swamp rock (Save Ya Now) Memphis blues (Fool) and anything else he attempts, including a Chicago style blues about playing golf (Follow That Ball.)
If you like down home music played with wit and style, you’ll love Fool.
